Turkish Airlines Flight 452

Turkish Airlines Flight 452 (registration TC-JBH, named Antalya) was a Boeing 727 operated by Turkish Airlines. On September 19, 1976, during a scheduled flight between Istanbul Yeşilköy Airport and Antalya Airport, it flew into the slope of a hill at Karatepe in Isparta, 60 mi north by northwest of the destination airport because of a pilot error made on approach to landing resulting in the death of 154 people in total.

Isparta Süleyman Demirel Airport (Turkish: Isparta Süleyman Demirel Havalimanı), inaugurated on July 21, 1997, is an airport serving the city of Isparta in south-western Turkey. Located in the Keçiborlu district, it is 28 km far from the city. The airport is named after the 9th President of Turkey, Süleyman Demirel, who is a native of Isparta.

1914 Burdur earthquake

The 1914 Burdur earthquake occurred at 00:07 local time on 4 October. It was estimated to be 7.0 on the surface wave magnitude scale with a maximum intensity of IX on the Mercalli intensity scale. It was centered near Lake Burdur in southwestern Turkey and the mainshock and subsequent fire destroyed more than 17,000 homes, and caused 2,344 casualties. In Burdur nearly 100 percent of the homes were destroyed along with other significant and historical monuments.
