Dash Valley

The Dash Valley is a small valley in the English Lake District. It has only one dwelling, Dash Farm, the fields of which spread right across the valley. The valley is flanked on the northern side by Great Cockup, and on the southern side by Bakestall, part of the Skiddaw massif. At the head of the valley Dash Beck, the river which flows through the valley, falls dramatically forming Dash Falls (aka Whitewater Dash), which Wainwright called the finest succession of falls in the Lake District.

Bassenthwaite Lake railway station

Bassenthwaite Lake railway station was situated on the Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway between Penrith and Cockermouth in Cumbria, England. The station served the village of Dubwath. The station opened to passenger traffic on 2 January 1865, and closed on 18 April 1966. The station building and one platform are still visible from the A66 through the trees although the station is in a state of disrepair and now has no roof.

Over Water

Over Water is a small lake or tarn in the north of the English Lake District near the village of Longlands. Although only a fifteen-minute drive from Keswick it is quieter than many of the better-known lakes. Binsey, Great Cockup and Longlands Fell overlook the lake. Over Water was a small natural waterbody which was dammed in 1904 to increase its capacity. It now serves as a drinking water reservoir to supply the town of Wigton. The dam is at the northern end.
