Blindbothel

Blindbothel is a village and civil parish in the Allerdale district of Cumbria, England. It is on the edge of the Lake District National Park, and is a couple of miles south of Cockermouth. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 148. There are 63 households in total in Blindbothel. In the 1870's Blindbothel was described as "Blindbothel, a township in Brigham parish, Cumberland; 2 miles W of Cockermouth. Real property, £1,206. Pop. , 116. Houses, 19.

Embleton railway station

Embleton railway station was situated on the Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway between Penrith and Cockermouth in Cumbria, England. The station served the village of Embleton. The station opened to passenger traffic on 2 January 1865, and closed on 15 September 1958. All trace of the station building has gone although the Station Master's house survives as a private residence on the side of the A66.

Loweswater

Loweswater is one of the smaller lakes in the English Lake District. The village of Loweswater is situated at the foot of the lake. The lake is not far from Cockermouth and is also easily reached from elsewhere in West Cumbria. The group of fells to the south of Loweswater is known as the Loweswater Fells and consists of Mellbreak, Gavel Fell, Blake Fell, Hen Comb and Burnbank Fell. To the north of the lake lies the Fellbarrow range.

Cockermouth railway station

Cockermouth railway station was situated on the Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway and served the town of Cockermouth, Cumbria, England. The station opened to passenger traffic on 2 January 1865, and closed on 18 April 1966. The station was the second to be built in the town. The original Cockermouth & Workington Railway station closed when the CK&PR station opened on an altered alignment. The station was immortalised in 1964 in the song "Slow Train" by Flanders and Swann.

Bassenthwaite Lake

Bassenthwaite Lake is one of the largest water bodies in the English Lake District. It is long and narrow, approximately 4 miles long and ⁄4-mile wide, but is also extremely shallow, with a maximum depth of about 70 ft . It is the only body of water in the Lake District to be technically defined as a "lake" and to use the word "lake" in its name, all the others being "waters", "meres" or "tarns". It is fed by, and drains into, the River Derwent.
