Llanuwchllyn
Llanuwchllyn is a village in Gwynedd, Wales, near the southern end of Bala Lake (Llyn Tegid). Its population according to the United Kingdom Census 2001 was 834. , of which approximately 81% were Welsh-speaking. Llanuwchllyn railway station is the headquarters of the narrow gauge Bala Lake Railway, centred on the former Great Western Railway station on the standard-gauge line from Ruabon to Barmouth. The town was the birthplace of Welsh language author and educationalist Owen Morgan Edwards.

Llanuwchllyn railway station
Llanuwchllyn railway station in the village of Llanuwchllyn, Gwynedd, Wales, was formerly a station on the Ruabon to Barmouth line. It closed to passengers on Monday 18 January 1965 at the same time as the rest of the line, but subsequently reopened in 1972 as the southern (and main) terminus of the narrow gauge Bala Lake Railway. The station had a signal box and was a passing place on the single line.

Garneddwen Halt railway station
Garneddwen Halt in Merioneth, Wales, was formerly a station on the Great Western Railway Ruabon to Barmouth line. It closed to passengers on Monday 18 January 1965. Bala Lake
Bala Lake is a large lake in Gwynedd, Wales. It was the largest natural body of water in Wales prior to the level being raised by Thomas Telford to help support the flow of the Ellesmere Canal. (It still is the largest natural body of water in Wales). It is 4 miles long by 1 mile wide, and is subject to sudden and dangerous floods. The River Dee runs through it and the waters of the lake are famously deep and clear.

Bala Lake Railway
The Bala Lake Railway is a preserved railway at Bala Lake, in Gwynedd, north Wales, which runs for a distance of 4+⁄2 miles using 24 gauge rolling stock. It was built on a section of the former Ruabon - Barmouth GWR route which was closed in 1965. This section runs along the south-eastern shore of Bala Lake. Another section of the former trackbed is today used by the Llangollen Railway.
