River Dwyryd
The Afon Dwyryd is a river in Gwynedd, North Wales, which flows principally westwards draining to the sea into Tremadog Bay south of Porthmadog. The Dwyryd rises in the hills to the north of Ffestiniog. At its most northern extent, water draining from Moelwyn Mawr drains into the Tanygrisiau Reservoir, the outflow of which forms the source of the Afon Goedol. This is joined by the Afon Bowydd at grid reference: SH695438.

Moel-yr-hydd
Moel-yr-hydd is a subsidiary summit of Moelwyn Mawr in Snowdonia, North Wales and forms part of the Moelwynion. (Strictly the mountain is not actually in the Snowdonia National Park as it falls within the exclusion "hole" around the former slate town of Blaenau Ffestiniog. ) The mountain overlooks the village of Tanygrisiau and Tanygrisiau railway station (a halt on the Ffestiniog Railway) from where the mountain can easily be ascended.

Festiniog and Blaenau Railway
The Festiniog & Blaenau Railway was a narrow gauge railway built in 1868 to connect the town of Blaenau Ffestiniog with the slate quarries around Tanymanod and the smaller town of Llan Ffestiniog. At Blaenau Ffestiniog it made a direct connection with the Ffestiniog Railway with which it was closely associated during its brief existence.

Llechwedd Slate Caverns
Llechwedd Slate Caverns is a visitor attraction in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Gwynedd, Wales. Visitors can travel on the Miners' Tramway or descend into the Deep Mine, via a funicular railway, to explore the former Llechwedd slate quarry and learn how slate was extracted and processed and about the lives of the miners. On the Miners' Tramway (opened in 1972) visitors ride for 800 metres through tunnels and caverns on a train hauled by a battery-electric locomotive.

Craigysgafn
Craigysgafn is a rocky ridge and a top of Moelwyn Mawr that leads south from Moelwyn Mawr to Moelwyn Bach in Snowdonia, North Wales. It has several impressive gullies which lead directly down to the scree slopes above Llyn Stwlan. Some scrambling is needed in places.
