The Payson Longhorns are well known for their wrestling program with legend Dennis Pirch as longtime coach, R.C. LaHaye who is now Grand Canyon University Wrestling Coach is a former three-time state champion from Payson. Payson won the 3A State Championship in Boys Track and Field in 1987, 1988, 1990, 1991 and 2006.
