Glamis is an unincorporated community in Imperial County, California. It is located 22 miles northeast of Holtville, at an elevation of 335 feet (102 m). Glamis is one of a series of former Southern Pacific railroad stops along the eastern edge of the Algodones Dunes, located where the railway crosses State Route 78; other former stops in this area include Acolita, Clyde, Ruthven and Ogilby.

Algodones Dunes

The Algodones Dunes is a large erg located in the southeastern portion of the U.S. state of California, near the border with Arizona and the Mexican state of Baja California. The field is approximately 45 miles long by 6 miles wide and extends along a northwest-southeast line that correlates to the prevailing northerly and westerly wind directions.
