Duroville
Duroville is the nickname for the Desert Mobile Home Park near Thermal, California USA. The trailer park, which sits on the Torres Martinez Indian Reservation, is nicknamed for owner Harvey Duro, Sr. , a member of the tribal council. Duro set the park up after several other sub-standard trailer parks in the area were closed by authorities in Riverside County and residents had no place to live.

Valerie Jean Dates
Valerie Jean Dates is a historic date orchard and onetime popular U.S. Route 99 tourist stop located in Valerie, California, USA, an unincorporated area a short distance south of Thermal. Founded in 1928 by Russell Charles Nicoll and located on present-day State Route 86 at Avenue 66, the orchard is especially noteworthy as being the first to market dates directly to consumers. It was named in honor of his daughter Valerie Jean Nicoll.
