Big Morongo Canyon Preserve
The Big Morongo Canyon Preserve is a 31,000 acres (130 km²) native plants habitat and wildlife preserve located in the Little San Bernardino Mountains of the Transverse Ranges, in the transition zone between the higher Mojave Desert and lower elevation Colorado Desert section of the Sonoran Desert. The Preserve is in San Bernardino County, California between State Route 62—Morongo Valley to the east and Joshua Tree National Park to the west. Admission is free.

Nude Bowl
The Nude Bowl was a popular skateboarding locale from the late 1970s to the early 1990s. The name comes from the fact that the site was once a nudist resort named "Desert Gardens Ranch. " It was outside Desert Hot Springs, California and consisted of an abandoned kidney bean shaped swimming pool and a few foundations of buildings that used to surround the area. There was no paved road to the Nude Bowl, so visitors had to travel through the desert.

Chuckawalla Bill (August 2, 1875 – January 11, 1950) was a Spanish-American War veteran, a sapper in the British Army during World War I, a prospector, a cook, and vagabond. His birth name was William Anthony Simon, although he most frequently used the name Anthony W. Simmons. Later in life, he settled down in Palo Verde, California. He is buried in the Los Angeles National Cemetery, Los Angeles, California.
