Sylmar is a district in the San Fernando Valley region of the City of Los Angeles, California. The northernmost neighborhood in the city, Sylmar is located east of Interstate 5 and north of the city of San Fernando. Sylmar was once the site of the world's second largest olive groves.

Sylmar Converter Station

Sylmar Converter Station is the southern converter station of the electric power transmission line Pacific DC Intertie which transmits electricity from the Celilo Converter Station outside The Dalles, Oregon to Sylmar at the northern outskirts of Los Angeles, California, USA. The converter station converts the 500 kV direct current coming from the northern converter station Celilo to alternating current at 60 Hz and 230 kV synchronized with the Los Angeles power grid.

San Fernando High School, located in San Fernando, California, is a secondary school that is a part of the Los Angeles Unified School District. The school colors are black and gold.
