New Haven, Kentucky
New Haven is a city in Nelson County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 849 at the 2000 census. New Haven was founded as Pottinger's Landing in 1781 and later renamed New Haven in 1819 by Samuel Pottinger Jr. after the Connecticut town. It was chartered as a town by the Commonwealth in 1839, with the first elected City Manager being Silvester Johnson.

The Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani is a Trappist monastery near Bardstown, Kentucky in Nelson County affiliated with the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance (Ordo Cisterciensis Strictioris Observantiae). Founded on 21 December 1848 and made an abbey in 1851, Gethsemani is considered to the "mother house" of all Trappist and Trappistine monasteries in the United States of America. Gethsemani is the oldest monastery in the United States that is still in use.

Howardstown, Kentucky
Howardstown, Kentucky is located in the extreme southern portion of Nelson County, Kentucky, United States. It includes both the actual Howardstown community and the Stiles community. Neither community contains a US post office. Stiles became part of the Howardstown post in the 1950s and Howardstown part of the New Haven post in the 1990s. Howardstown is located on the Rolling Fork River and much of its lore and history are part of that association.

Samuels Field is a public use airport located two nautical miles (3.7 km) west of the central business district of Bardstown, a city in Nelson County, Kentucky, United States. This airport is included in the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2009–2013, which categorized it as a general aviation facility. The airport is run by the Bardstown-Nelson County Air Board, which consists six members: half appointed by Bardstown and half by Nelson County.
