McCracken County High School is a public secondary school (grades 9–12) located west of Paducah, Kentucky and set to open in August 2013. Operated by the McCracken County Public Schools district, it will consolidate that district's three current high schools—Heath, Lone Oak, and Reidland. The Heath High School shooting occurred at Heath High School in West Paducah, Kentucky, United States, on Monday, December 1, 1997. Fourteen-year-old Michael Carneal opened fire on a group of praying students, killing three and injuring five more.
