Scaly Mountain is a small unincorporated community along North Carolina highway 106, southwest of Highlands, North Carolina and northeast of Dillard, Georgia (about halfway between the two), and nearest to Sky Valley, Georgia just to the south-southwest. It is in far south-southeast Macon County, North Carolina, in far southwestern Highlands township, close to the Georgia and North Carolina state line.

Estatoah Falls
Estatoah Falls are located on Mud Creek in Rabun County, Georgia. The falls are located on private property and are not open to the public. The falls may be viewed from several places along State Route 246. There are also some smaller falls (about 100 feet) near Sky Valley, Georgia called Little Estatoah Falls or Mud Creek falls. Estatoah Falls drop several hundred feet in several dramatic cascades. The name of the falls is from the name of a Cherokee Indian village.

Ammons Creek Falls
Ammons Creek Falls is a waterfall located in the Tallulah Ranger District of the Chattahoochee National Forest in Rabun County, Georgia that cascades for over 100 feet. There is 1.75 mile loop hiking trail that provides access to both nearby Holcomb Creek Falls and Ammons Creek Falls. There is a wooden observation deck for viewing the falls. Directions: From Clayton, Georgia take Warwoman Road east for 10 miles.
