Smith Grove, Texas

Smith Grove is a rural community in Houston County, Texas about 4 miles east of Lovelady. It is located at the intersection of FM's 1280 and 1309, and it was founded about 1900. In 1930, it had a church, a store, and a number of houses. After World War II, many residents moved away, but a store, church, and a number of houses remained. By the 1990s, it was a dispersed community, although a Church remains.

Center Grove is an unincorporated community in Houston County, Texas at the intersection of FM 1309 and FM 1280. Center Grove was founded in 1925 through the consolidation of Pine Grove and Center Hill. The community had a school at one time; it now consists of several houses.

Red Branch, Texas

Red Branch is an unincorporated community in Trinity County, Texas, near the Houston County line. Red Branch is located on Texas State Highway 19 16 miles west of Groveton. Red Branch had a school, which opened before 1896 and was consolidated in 1938. By the 1990s, all that remained of the community were some dispersed homes.

White Rock, Texas

White Rock, also known as Skains or Skains Chapel, is a rural town in Trinity County, Texas, about 15 miles from Groveton. A church/school combination was built around the Civil War era. In the 1880s the town name was changed to White Rock. By the 1990s only a few houses and a cemetery remained.
