Wharton is a city in Wharton County, Texas, United States. The population was 8,832 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Wharton County and is located on the Colorado River of Texas just south of U.S. Highway 59.

20th Century Technology Museum

The 20th Century Technology Museum is located in Wharton, Texas, USA, and displays examples of technology from the 20th century. The museum is a non-profit organization and opened its gallery in July 2005 on the first floor of the former Wharton County Jail, which was constructed in 1888. The museum's collection consists mostly of smaller items, such as radios, but also has a few experimental aircraft, including an ornithopter and a Rutan VariEze, which is displayed in front of the museum.

Continental Express Flight 2574

Continental Express Flight 2574 (Jetlink 2574) was a scheduled domestic passenger airline flight operated by Britt Airways from Laredo International Airport in Laredo, Texas to Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas. On September 11, 1991, the Embraer EMB 120 Brasilia, registered N37701, crashed as it was approaching the runway for landing, killing all 14 people on board. The aircraft wreckage hit an area near Eagle Lake, Texas.

Wharton County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 41,280. Its county seat is Wharton. It was named for brothers William Harris Wharton and John Austin Wharton. The El Campo Micropolitan Statistical Area includes all of Wharton County.
