Lepitsa

Lepitsa is a village in northwestern Bulgaria situated in the Cherven Bryag Municipality, Pleven Province. It has a population of 503 and has recently gained some fame through its football team FC Svetoslav founded in 2007 and funded by the population of the village. Lepitsa Peak on Trinity Peninsula in Antarctica is named after the village.

1978 Balkan Bulgarian Tupolev Tu-134 crash

The 1978 Balkan Bulgarian Tupolev Tu-134 crash occurred on 16 March 1978 when a Balkan Bulgarian Airlines Tupolev Tu-134 airliner on an international flight from Sofia, Bulgaria, to Warsaw Airport, Poland. On departure from Sofia, the aircraft was climbing to 8,850 metres, but at 4,900 m it turned on a heading of 050. It turned again to 270 then began an abnormal descent. The aircraft crashed near the village of Gabare, 130 km northeast of Sofia. All 73 on board died.

Severozepaden is a region of Bulgaria. The capital is the city of Pleven. The region has the lowest-ranked economy in Bulgaria and the European Union, with a GDP of € 7,100 or 27% of EU27 average (2008). It includes five administrative divisions or oblasts: Vidin Province, Vratsa Province, Montana Province, Lovech Province and Pleven Province.

Deventsi gas field

The Deventsi gas field is a natural gas field in Deventsi, Pleven Province, Bulgaria. It was discovered in 2009 and developed by Direct Petroleum. The total proven reserves of the Deventsi gas field are around 235 billion cubic feet (6.6×10m³), and production is slated to begin at 15 million cubic feet/day (4.2×10m³) in 2009 to 30 million cubic feet/day (8×4m³) in 2010. The gas field can provide half of the Bulgarian market consumption for around 2 – 3 years.

Brenitsa, Pleven Province

Brenitsa is a village in Northern Bulgaria. It is located in Knezha Municipality, Pleven Province. Brenitza lies in northwestern Bulgaria in the Danubian Plain. It is located 40 km south of the Danube River, 7 km west of the Iskar River, 17 km east of Byala Slatina, 25 km from Cherven Bryag, 8 km southeast of Knezha.
