Boynitsa

Boynitsa (also transliterated Bojnica, Bojnitsa, Boinitsa, Boynitza, Boinitza, Boinica, etc. ) is a village in northwestern Bulgaria, part of Vidin Province. It is the administrative centre of Boynitsa Municipality, which lies in the western part of Vidin Province. The village is located 35 kilometres west of the provincial capital Vidin and 250 kilometres northwest of the national capital Sofia, in the immediate proximity of the Serbian border.

Albotin Monastery

Albotin Monastery is a presently inactive Bulgarian medieval cave monastery on the territory of Kula bishopric of Vidin Diocese of Bulgarian Orthodox Church, in the locality Albotin (Albutin) along river Topolovets between villages Gradets and Rabrovo, nearby village Deleyna.

Castra Martis

Castra Martis was a Roman fortress in the Roman province of Dacia ripensis on the modern site of Kula, in Vidin Province in Bulgaria. It used to protect the road through Vrashka Chuka pass in the western Balkan mountains. In 408, the Huns under Uldin took control of the site during an attack on the Eastern Roman Empire, apparently by treachery. Castra Martis Hill on Livingston Island, in the South Shetland Islands, West Antarctica, is named after it.
