Nordsøen Oceanarium

Nordsøen Oceanarium is a public aquarium and museum that opened in 1998 on the shores of the North Sea in Hirtshals, north Jutland, Denmark. Their main tank, which holds 4,500,000 litres, is the largest in Northern Europe, but the Oceanarium also has several smaller habitat aquariums and an exhibit with seals. Most displayed species are native to the oceans around Denmark. The Oceanarium is part of the Nordsøcentre, which also houses a conference centre.

Partnair Flight 394

Partnair Flight 394 was a chartered flight which crashed on 8 September 1989 off the coast of Denmark 18 km north of Hirtshals. All 50 passengers and 5 crew members on board the aircraft perished, making it the deadliest civilian aviation accident involving an all-Norwegian airline company. It was also the highest death toll of any aviation accident involving a Convair 580. It was caused by fraudulent aircraft parts.

Sindal

Sindal is a town with a population of 3,090 (1 January 2012) and a former municipality in Hjørring municipality in Region Nordjylland on the island of Vendsyssel-Thy at the top of the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark. The former Sindal municipality covered an area of 242 km², and had a total population of 9,425 (2005). On January 1, 2007 Sindal municipality ceased to exist due to Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007).
