Cairo

Egypt Eyalet

Egypt was conquered by the Ottoman Empire in 1517, following the Ottoman–Mamluk War (1516–1517) and the loss of Syria to the Ottomans in 1516. Egypt was administrated as an eyalet of the Ottoman Empire (Ottoman Turkish: ایالت مصر; Eyālet-i Miṣir) from 1517 until 1867, with an interruption during the French occupation of 1798 to 1801.

Bulaq

Bulaq is a district of Cairo, Egypt. It neighbours Downtown Cairo, Azbakeya, and the River Nile. There are claims that the name Boulaq comes from the French 'Beau Lac', which literally means 'Beautiful Lake', however, the name is much older than the period of French influence starting in the late 18th century.

6th October Bridge

The 6th October Bridge is an elevated highway in central Cairo, Egypt. The 20.5 kilometres bridge and causeway crosses the Nile River twice from the west bank suburbs, east through Gezira Island to Downtown Cairo, and on to connect the city to the Cairo International Airport to the east. Its name commemorates the date of 'The Crossing' which commenced the outbreak day of the October War in 1973.
