Metsähovi Radio Observatory

The Metsähovi Radio Observatory is an astronomical observatory affiliated with the Aalto University. Its main premises are in Metsähovi, Kylmälä, 35 km west of the campus of the Helsinki University of Technology. The observatory currently operates one 13.7 m diameter radio telescope, staffed by some 20 researchers, engineers, research assistants, undergraduate and postgraduate students, and supporting personnel.

Hvitträsk

Hvitträsk was designed to be a studio home for the members of the Finnish architecture firm Gesellius, Lindgren, and Saarinen. It later became the private residence of Eliel Saarinen. It is located about 30 kilometers west of Helsinki in Kirkkonummi, Finland. The design was developed and construction began during the year of 1902. The house was named after Lake Vitträsk, on which it was built. [H H]vitträsk literally means White Lake.

Uusimaa

Uusimaa or Nyland (both names mean “new land”) is a region in Finland. It borders the regions Finland Proper, Tavastia Proper, Päijänne Tavastia and Kymenlaakso. Finland’s capital Helsinki and its second largest city Espoo are both located centrally in Uusimaa, making it by far the most populous region.

Kirkkonummi railway station

Kirkkonummi railway station is a railway station in the municipality of Kirkkonummi, Finland, between Siuntio railway station and Tolsa railway station. Kirkkonummi railway station is served by long-distance trains between Helsinki Central railway station and Turku Central railway station, and by the VR commuter rail lines Y, S, U and L. Track 1 serves trains going to Turku, and local trains S, U and L. Track 2 serves trains coming from Turku, and local trains to Helsinki.

Masala railway station

Masala or Masaby is a station on the VR commuter rail network located in the Masala district of Kirkkonummi, Finland, between the Luoma and Jorvas stations. The Masala station has two tracks, with track one serving trains towards Kirkkonummi and track two towards Helsinki. The Masala station has high platforms and platform displays. There is an announcement system at the station. The station has 140 free-of-charge bicycle parking places and 80 free-of-charge car parking places.
