Battle of Storkyro

The Battle of Storkyro was fought on February 19, 1714 / March 2, 1714 near the village of Napo in Storkyro parish, Ostrobothnia, Swedish Empire between a Swedish and a Russian army, as part of the Great Northern War. The Swedish force, consisting almost entirely of Finnish troops, was destroyed by the numerically superior Russian force. As a result, all of Finland сame under Russian military occupation for the rest of the war, a period of hardship known in Finland as the Greater Wrath.

Tuurala

Tuurala is a village in Isokyrö, Finland. In 1997, it was nominated as "village of the year" in Southern Ostrobothnia. The village association has purchased a former school house, which is now used to organize educational events and as an information point with 12 computer work stations.

Ylistaro

Ylistaro is a former municipality of Finland. It was consolidated, together with Nurmo to Seinäjoki in 1 January 2009. It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Southern Ostrobothnia region. The municipality had a population of 5,582 (2003) and covered an area of 484.08 km² of which 2.73 km² is water. The population density was 11.6 inhabitants per km². The municipality was unilingually Finnish.
