Parchim (district)

Parchim is a former Kreis (district) in the southwestern part of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. Neighboring districts were (from the north clockwise) Nordwestmecklenburg, Güstrow, Müritz, the district Prignitz in Brandenburg, the district Ludwigslust and the district-free city Schwerin. The district was disbanded at the district reform of September 2011. Its territory has been part of the Ludwigslust-Parchim district since.

Dobbertiner See

The Dobbertiner See is a lake within the Sternberger Seenlandschaft in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It is situated immediately to the south of the municipality of Dobbertin, and is about 200 kilometres northwest of Berlin. The lake is approximately 2.78 kilometres long and 0.851 kilometres wide, with an average depth of 4.8 metres and a maximum depth of 11.8 metres . It has an area of 3.36 square kilometres, and is only 45.0 metres above sea level.

Dobbertin Abbey

Dobbertin Abbey (Kloster Dobbertin) is a former Benedictine monastery of monks, afterwards housed a community of nuns, and later still a women's collegiate foundation, located in the municipality of Dobbertin near Goldberg in the district of Ludwigslust-Parchim in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It stands on a spit of land in the Dobbertiner See and includes the only church with two towers in Mecklenburg.
