Chong-Tash

Chong-Tash is a small village in Chui Province, Kyrgyzstan, located just south of the capital Bishkek. It is a ski resort and tourist area, and also the site of an NKVD execution. The settlement was established in 1930s when the local nomadic people were forced to settle.

Dynamo Stadion

Dynamo Stadion is a multi-use stadium in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as the home stadium for Sher-Ak-Dan Bishkek of the Kyrgyzstan League. The stadium has a capacity of 10,000 people.

Aksy

Aksy is a small town in southern Kyrgyzstan which gained notoriety in 2002 when police and police fired into a crowd of unarmed demonstrators, killing six. The demonstrations were triggered by a political dispute between a local member of the national parliament, Azimbek Beknazarov, and Kyrgyz President Askar Akayev over an agreement with China that ceded some territory in the high Tien Shan range to China.

Kyrgyz Academy of Sciences
