Balamand Monastery

The Balamand Monastery (historically called Belmont, Bellimontis ultra Mare or Bellus-Mons), is an Antiochian Orthodox monastery founded in 1157 in Balamand near Tripoli, Lebanon.

Kelhat

Kelhat (قلحات) is a Greek Orthodox village in Koura District of Lebanon. It extends from the shores of the Mediterranean Sea to an elevation of around 400m above sea level. Kelhat contains many educational institutes, covering the Lebanese Educational System from Primary Education to Higher Education, namely, University of Balamand, College Notre Dame du Balamand and Lady of Balamand High School. Four Greek Orthodox Churches exist in Kelhat, most notably the Balamand Monastery.

University of Balamand

The University of Balamand is a private, secular university located at El-Koura, Lebanon. It was founded by the Orthodox Patriarch Ignatius IV of Antioch in 1988. The university's main campus is adjacent to Balamand Monastery, but it has two other campuses in Beirut: One is in Sin el Fil, which houses the majority of the faculty for fine arts, and the other is neighbouring Saint George Hospital in Achrafieh, which houses the faculty for medicine and medical sciences.
