Ansar, Lebanon
Ansar or Insar (Arabic أنصار, population 31,970) is a village in the Nabatieh Governorate region of southern Lebanonlocated between Nabatieh and Tyr. During the Lebanese civil war in the 1980s it was the location of a detention camp for suspected Palestinian terrorists and allied Muslim militiamen captured by the Israeli military in Lebanon. The Battle of Jezzine (13 June 1941) was part of the Australian 7th Division's advance on Beirut during the five-week-long Syria-Lebanon campaign by the Allies against Vichy French forces in Syria and Lebanon.
