1929 Hebron massacre

The Hebron massacre refers to the killing of sixty-seven Jews (including 23 college students) on 24 August 1929 in Hebron, then part of Mandatory Palestine, by Arabs incited to violence by false rumors that Jews were massacring Arabs in Jerusalem and seizing control of Muslim holy places. The event also left scores seriously wounded or maimed. Jewish homes were pillaged and synagogues were ransacked. Many of the 435 Jews who survived were hidden by local Arab families.

Palestine Polytechnic University

Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU) is a university located in Hebron, West Bank, Palestinian National Authority. The school was founded in 1978 by the University Graduates Union (UGU), a non-profit organization in Hebron. Enrolment in 2007 was greater than 5000 students.

Abraham's Oak Holy Trinity Monastery

Abraham's Oak Holy Trinity Monastery (Russian: Троицкий монастырь и храм св. Праотцев в Хевроне) is a Russian Orthodox monastery in Hebron founded in the 20th century on the site of the ancient Oak of Mamre. The lands were acquired by the Russian Church in the 19th century and later expanded. It was held by ROCOR until 1997 when Palestinian police seized it and turned it over to ROC.

Tel Rumeida

Tel Rumeida is the site of a Jewish Israeli settlement and a number of Palestinian houses and families as well. In proximity is an Israeli military base. According to Ehud Sprinzak, an Israeli counterterrorism specialist and expert in far-right Jewish groups, the hill was settled by "a small number of very radical Jewish families" in 1986. The most well known resident is Baruch Marzel, a right-wing activist and head of the Jewish National Front, who lives there with his family.
