Slava Cercheză

Slava Cercheză is a commune in Tulcea County, Romania. Its name means the Cherkess Slava, in reference to the main group of the village before the Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878). Besides the titular village, the commune also includes Slava Rusă (Russian: Русская Слава, Russian Slava). Situated near the site of ancient Libida, the commune is home to an important Russian-speaking Lipovan community (79.9% of the population) dating from the late 17th or early 18th century.

Tulcea Airport

Peuce Island

Peuce in ancient geography was an island located in the Danube Delta, in Scythia Minor. Its name came from the ancient Greek word peuke, 'pine tree'. It was about the size of the island of Rhodes. The island disappeared during the early Middle Ages, when the river changed its course. It was to this island that the Triballian king Syrmus took refuge when pursued by Alexander the Great. Alexander brought ships up the Danube to use in an assault on the island.

Jurilovca

Jurilovca (Russian: Журиловка; Unirea from 1983 to 1996) is a commune in Tulcea county, Dobrudja, Romania. It is composed of three villages: Jurilovca, Vişina and Sălcioara (6 Martie during the Communist era and until 1996). It was founded by Lipovans at the beginning of the 19th century; the first documentary attestation is from 1826. Although at its beginnings it was a small village, the settlement grew and become, at the end of 19th century, an important fishing center in Danube Delta area.
