Usman, Russia
Usman is a town and the administrative center of Usmansky District of Lipetsk Oblast, Russia, located on the Usman River, 75 kilometers south of Lipetsk and to the right of the Bajwa River. Population: 18,685; 20,133; 20,878. It was founded in 1645 as an ostrog (fortress) on the Belgorod Line and named after the Usman River. In 1652, it was raided by the Tatars. It was granted town status in 1779.
