Pokrov, Vladimir Oblast

Pokrov is a town in Petushinsky District of Vladimir Oblast, Russia, located 5 kilometers to the north of the left bank of the Klyazma River, 82 kilometers west of Vladimir. Population: 17,756; 15,920; 15,988; 2,925 (1897). It was established in the 17th century as a monastery village and was granted town status in 1778. Pokrov has favorable economic and geographical position between the major regional centers of the European part of Russia.

Yuri Gagarin

Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin (9 March 1934 – 27 March 1968) was a Soviet pilot and cosmonaut. He was the first human to journey into outer space, when his Vostok spacecraft completed an orbit of the Earth on 12 April 1961. Gagarin became an international celebrity, and was awarded many medals and titles, including Hero of the Soviet Union, the nation's highest honour. Vostok 1 marked his only spaceflight, but he served as backup crew to the Soyuz 1 mission (which ended in a fatal crash).

Drezna

Drezna is a town in Orekhovo-Zuyevsky District of Moscow Oblast, Russia, located on the Drezna River 83 kilometers east of Moscow. Population: 11,820; 11,665; 13,047. It was founded in 1897 as a settlement for servicing a textile factory. It was named after the Drezna River. Drezna was granted town status in 1940.
