Pokrov is a town in Petushinsky District of Vladimir Oblast, Russia, located 5 kilometers to the north of the left bank of the Klyazma River, 82 kilometers west of Vladimir. Population: 17,756; 15,920; 15,988; 2,925 (1897). It was established in the 17th century as a monastery village and was granted town status in 1778. Yuri Gagarin
Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin (9 March 1934 – 27 March 1968) was a Soviet pilot and cosmonaut.
