LLandaff Oratory

LLandaff Oratory is an oratory in Van Reenen, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The oratory was built by Maynard Mathews in memory of his son Llandaff Mathew who died while saving the lives of 8 co-workers at the Burnside Colliery mine on 19 March 1925. Initially Maynard Mathews wanted to erect a plaque in honour of his son at the Roman Catholic Church in Ladysmith, but could not secure permission to do so.

De Beer's Pass (KwaZulu-Natal)

De Beer's Pass is located in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. It is situated on an unmarked road between Ladysmith and Harrismith in the neighbouring Free State province. This pass should not be confused with another pass of the same name located in South Africa's Eastern Cape province.

Ingula Pumped Storage Scheme

The Ingula Pumped Storage Scheme (previously named Braamhoek) is under construction by Eskom in the escarpment of the Little Drakensberg range straddling the border of the Free State and KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. The Scheme will consists of an upper and a lower dam 4.6 km apart and connected by tunnels. The underground powerhouse will house 4 x 333MW reversible pump-turbines. The scheme is being built at a cost of R27 billion and is scheduled to come into operation in 2014.
