Öckerö Municipality

Öckerö Municipality (Öckerö kommun) is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Öckerö on the main island, which is also called Öckerö. The municipality consists of islands in the Northern Gothenburg Archipelago, just outside of Gothenburg. With a total area of 26.03 km² it is one of the smallest municipalities of Sweden.

SS Westfalen (1905)

SS Westfalen was a German ship launched on 14 November 1905 at J.C. Tecklenborg in Geestemünde. In the early 1930s Westfalen was converted into a seaplane tender to serve as both weather reporting and refueling station for Dornier Wal flying boats of Lufthansa carrying mail trans-Atlantic between Europe and South America. German submarine U-1065

German submarine U-1065 was a Type VIIC/41 U-boat of the German Kriegsmarine during World War II. She was ordered\ton 14 September 1941, and was laid down on 23 September 1943 at Krupp Germaniawerft, Kiel, as 'werk 702'. She was launched on 3 August 1944 and commissioned under the command of Oberleutnant Johannes Panitz on 23 September of that year.

Carlsten

Carlsten is a stone fortress located at Marstrand, on the western coast of Sweden. The fortress was built on the orders of King Carl X of Sweden following the Treaty of Roskilde, 1658 to protect the newly acquired province of Bohuslän from hostile attacks. The site of Marstrand was chosen because of its location and its access to an ice free port. Initially a square stone tower was constructed, but by 1680 it was reconstructed and replaced by a round shaped tower.
