Anti-Lebanon mountains

The Anti-Lebanon mountains is the Western name for the Eastern Lebanon Mountain Range, which are a southwest-northeast-trending mountain range that form the majority of the border between Syria and Lebanon. The border is largely defined along the crest of the range. The majority of the mountain range lies in Syria. Its Western name (Anti-Lebanon) comes from the Greek Anti-Libanus, in which the prefix "anti" means ‘opposite’.

Ma'loula

Ma'loula or Maaloula, is a village in the Rif Dimashq Governorate in Syria. The town is located 56 km to the northeast of Damascus, and built into the rugged mountainside, at an altitude of more than 1500 metres. It is known as the last surviving place where Western Aramaic is still spoken.

Mar Sarkis

Several monasteries in Syria, Lebanon and Turkey are dedicated to Mar Sarkis and Bakhos. These include: Monastery of Mar Sarkis and Bakhos, Tourza North Lebanon|Mar Sarkis and Bakhos Monastery of Mar Sarkis and Bakhos - Ras Al Nahr in Ehden, Lebanon. It belongs to the Lebanese Antonin Maronite Order since 1736. Monastery of Mar Sarkis - Bsharri. It belonged since the 16th Century to the Carmelite Fathers.

Yabrud

Yabrud is a city in Syria, located in the Rif Dimashq (Damascus suburb) governorate about 80 km north of the capital Damascus. The city is known for its ancient caves, most notably the Iskafta cave (where, in 1930, a thirty-year old German traveller and would-be archeologist Alfred Rust made many important pre-historical findings), and the Yabrud temple, which was once Jupiter Yabroudis 's temple but later became "Konstantin and Helena Cathedral". Yabrud is home of the oldest church in Syria.

Yabrud District

Yabrud District is a district of the Rif Dimashq Governorate in Syria. At the 2004 officical census, the district had a population of 48,370. The centre of the district is the city of Yabrud.
