1948 Ashgabat earthquake

The 1948 Ashgabat earthquake, at a magnitude 7.3 Mw, occurred on 6 October 1948 near Ashgabat, in the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic. Due to censorship by the national government, the Ashgabat Earthquake was not much reported in USSR media. Babadaýhan District

Babadaýhan District is a district of Ahal Province in Turkmenistan. The name Babadaýhan is the Turkmenized form of the Persian name Bābā-Dihqān (بابادهقان), which eans “Forefather Farmer”, a mythological and ritual character whose cult has been reported in agrarian communities of mountainous and lowland Tajikistan, North Afghanistan and adjacent rural areas of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan.
