It is the administrative center of Storozhynets Raion and is located approximately 20 km south-west of the oblast capital, Chernivtsi. Bukovinian State Medical University

(BSMU) is one of the largest higher educational establishment in Chernivtsi. It has recently celebrated the 65th anniversary of its foundation.
