Battle of Berestechko

The Battle of Berestechko (Polish: Bitwa pod Beresteczkiem; Ukrainian: Берестецька битва, Битва під Берестечком) was fought between the Ukrainian Cossacks, led by Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky, aided by their Crimean Tatar allies, and a Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth army under King John II Casimir. Fought over three days from 28 to 30 June 1651, the battle took place in the Polish province of Volhynia. It was, very probably, the world's largest land battle of the 17th century.

Berestechko

Berestechko is a city in Volyn Oblast, Ukraine. It is located at around {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:50|21|0|N|25|7|0|E| | |name= }}. It is located on the Styr River. As of 2001, its population was 1,904. Berestechko received Magdeburg rights in 1547. In 1651, the Battle of Berestechko took place near the town. A monastery once located near Berestechko was razed by the Soviet army.

Przebraże Defence

The Przebraże Defence was the World War II defence of Przebraże, a Polish settlement, located in Lutsk county, Volhynian Voivodeship, near the village of Troscianiec. Between 1919 and 1939, the settlement belonged to the Second Polish Republic; it exists no more.
