Taplow railway station

Taplow railway station is a railway station in Taplow, Buckinghamshire, England. The station is served by local services operated by First Great Western (FGW) from Paddington, 22⁄2 miles (36 km) to the east, to Reading stations, using class 165, and class 166 DMU trains. Taplow Court

Taplow Court is a large Victorian house in the village of Taplow in Buckinghamshire, England. The Taplow burial, a 7th century Anglo-Saxon burial mound, is in the grounds of the house, near the church.. This was excavated in 1883 and a number of treasures were discovered, unrivalled until the discovery of Sutton Hoo in 1939. There has been a manor house on the site since before the Norman Conquest in 1066.

Burnham Abbey

Burnham Abbey was founded as a house of Augustinian nuns in 1266 by Richard, 1st Earl of Cornwall, King of the Romans, who presented the community with the surrounding lands and the parish church of Burnham in Buckinghamshire. The community consisted of around twenty nuns at the outset, but was never especially wealthy and by the time of the dissolution there were only ten.

Boulter's Lock

Boulter's Lock is a lock and weir on the River Thames in England on the eastern side of Maidenhead, Berkshire. A lock was first built here by the Thames Navigation Commission in 1772. The lock is on the western side of the river between the main (A4094) Maidenhead to Cookham road and Ray Mill Island. The name is also used for the immediate surrounding area. The weir is some way upstream of the lock, at the northern end of Ray Mill Island.

Dorneywood

Dorneywood is an eighteenth century Georgian house with Victorian and later additions, rebuilt after a fire in 1910, near Burnham in the South Bucks District of Buckinghamshire, England. It was given to the National Trust by Lord Courtauld-Thomson in 1947 as a country home for a senior member of the Government, usually a Secretary of State or Minister of the Crown. The Dorneywood Trust has the objective of 'maintaining the mansion house and gardens of Dorneywood'.
