Buxton F.C

Buxton Football Club are an English football club based in Buxton, Derbyshire. They were established in 1877 and joined the Combination League in 1891. They then joined the Manchester League in 1899 and won the championship in 1932. They reached the Third Round of the FA Cup in the 1951–52 season. Their patron is the Duke of Devonshire. The club supports and hosts local senior, junior and ladies football. They are currently members of the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

Buxton Opera House

Buxton Opera House is in The Square, Buxton, Derbyshire, England. It is a 902-seat opera house that hosts the annual Buxton Festival and International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival, among others, as well as pantomime at Christmas, musicals and other entertainments year-round. Hosting live performances until 1927, the theatre then was used mostly as a cinema until 1976. In 1979, it was refurbished and reopened as a venue for live performance.

Poole's Cavern

Poole's Cavern or Poole's Hole is a 2 million year old, natural limestone cave on the edge of Buxton in the Peak District, in the county of Derbyshire, England. A natural cavern, Poole's forms part of the Wye system, and has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Axe Edge Moor

Axe Edge Moor is the major moorland southwest of Buxton in the Peak District. It is mainly gritstone (Namurian shale and sandstone). Its highest point (551 metres) is at grid reference SK035706. This is slightly lower than Shining Tor (which is some 5 kilometres to the northwest, across the modest dip of the incipient Goyt Valley). The moor is the source of the River Dove, River Manifold, River Dane, River Wye and River Goyt. It boasts England's second-highest public house.
