Norton United F.C. is a football club based in Smallthorne, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. They were established in 1989 and joined the Staffordshire Senior League in the same year. They were the Midland League champions three times and are members of the North West Counties Football League Premier Division. Smallthorne Urban District
Smallthorne Urban District was an Urban district in Staffordshire. It was initially formed of the Smallthorne civil parish. In 1904 the Chell and Milton civil parishes were added. It was abolished in 1922 with the bulk of it becoming part of the county borough of Stoke-on-Trent. After absorption, the area of the UDC was divided into two wards for election of local councillors. Ward 27 covered Smallthorne, Bradeley, Norton-in-the-Moors, Ball Green, Fegg Hayes, and Brindley Ford.

The club take their name from the largest of the six towns in Stoke-on-Trent, which is Hanley. They play home games at their Abbey Lane base which is about a mile and a half outside the City Centre.

The Hollybush at Stockton Brook, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, is a public house situated adjacent to the Caldon branch of the Trent & Mersey canal, approximately 5 miles from Hanley just off the A53 Leek road. 'The Holly Bush' was originally owned by John Joules Brewery of Stone, and in 1911, Mr Jesse Jodrell replaced Mr S Podmore as the tenant. With a bowling green and tennis court it was the hub of village life.
