Parbold railway station serves the village of Parbold and the nearby village of Newburgh in West Lancashire, England. The station is 7 miles north west of Wigan Wallgate on the Manchester to Southport Line.

River Tawd

The River Tawd flows through Skelmersdale and Lathom in West Lancashire. The Tawd Bridge carried Ormskirk Road, the main arterial road from Wigan to Ormskirk and Southport. This is well-known to Upholland locals as the place where highwayman George Lyons held up his victims during the 18th century. Today, the river flows through the middle of Skelmersdale in large culverts.

Hoscar railway station serves the rural village of Lathom, near the town of Burscough, Lancashire, England. The station stands between two level crossings: in Hoscar Moss Road and Frog Lane. 2,070 passengers used the station in 2004-5. 8 trains a day call on weekdays in each direction. Trains run to Southport, Wigan Wallgate, Manchester Victoria, Bolton and Manchester Airport (peak hours only to the latter two) The basic frequency of trains calling at Hoscar is every 2 hours.
