Rochdale Canal

The Rochdale Canal is a navigable broad canal in northern England, between Manchester and Sowerby Bridge, part of the connected system of the canals of Great Britain. Its name refers to the town of Rochdale, in Greater Manchester, through which it passes. The Rochdale is a broad canal because its locks are wide enough to allow vessels of 14 feet width.

Wainhouse Tower

Wainhouse Tower is a folly in the parish of King Cross, on the south west side of Halifax, Calderdale, West Yorkshire in England. At 275 feet, it is the tallest structure in Calderdale and the tallest folly in the world, and was erected in four years between 1871-1875. The main shaft is octagonal in shape with a square base and 403 stairs leading to the first of two viewing platforms.
