Kells, County Antrim

Kells (from the Irish: Na Cealla) is a village in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, near Ballymena. The area encompasses Kells and the village of Connor which are very close together and have a joint primary school, library, development association etc. It had a population of 3,364 people in the 2011 Census and is considered a staunchly loyalist area. It is within the Borough of Ballymena. An old stone bridge crosses the Kells Water, separating Kells from the adjacent village of Connor.

Kells Water

The Kells Water is a small river in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It flows through Moorfields and Kells and is a tributary to the River Main. The river rises above Glenwherry. It is a continuation of the Glenwhirry River and eventually joins the Main, which in turn flows into Lough Neagh. The hamlet of Kellswater is nearby. An old stone bridge crosses the Kells Water, separating Kells from the adjacent village of Connor.

St Olcan's High School

St Olcan's High School was the name of a Roman Catholic secondary school in Randalstown, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The school opened in 1958 within the North Eastern Education and Library Board area. It was one of two schools which were combined in 2006 to become St Benedict's College. The proposal to amalgamate St Malachy's High School, Antrim and St Olcan's was approved by Angela Smith, the Education Minister for Northern Ireland in March 2006.

Antrim (borough)

Antrim (named after the town of Antrim) is a local government district in Northern Ireland. It is one of twenty-six districts created in 1973, and was granted borough status on 9 May 1977. The borough covers an area of some 220 square miles and has a population of 53,428 according to the 2011 census. It is situated about 19 miles north-west of Belfast.
