Castle of St. John
The Castle of St. John is an early 16th century L-plan tower house in the centre of Stranraer, in Wigtownshire, Dumfries and Galloway, southwest Scotland. It was built by the Adairs of Kilhilt c.1510. It has been used as a home, a court, a prison, and as a military garrison during the "Killing Times" of Covenanter persecution in the 1680s. The castle was refurbished in the late 1980s and is now a museum.

North West Castle
North West Castle is an 18th century four star country house hotel in Stranraer, Dumfries and Galloway, in the south west of Scotland. It is noteworthy for being the home of Sir John Ross, a famous Scottish rear admiral and Arctic explorer. Ross built the house and developed its grounds in 1820 after returning from the first in a series of Arctic expeditions aiming to solve the question of the Northwest Passage.

Galloway Community Hospital
The Galloway Community Hospital is an NHS Scotland hospital in Stranraer, Galloway, Scotland. Opened on a partial basis in September 2006, being fully opened by October 2007. The hospital replaced the Garrick and Dalrymple hospitals in Stranraer, and is on the site of part of the Dalrymple hospital, adjacent to the Waverly Medical Centre which is the main GP surgery for Stranraer.

Soulseat Abbey
Saulseat or Soulseat Abbey was a Premonstratensian monastic community located in Inch, Wigtownshire, Wigtownshire, Dumfries and Galloway, in the Gaelic-speaking south-west of Scotland. It was regarded as the first and the senior Premonstratensian house in the Kingdom of Scotland. The Obituary of Prémontré lists both King Fergus and Christian, bishop of Galloway (1154-86), as joint founders.
