Avon is a Home Rule Municipality that is a town in Eagle County, Colorado, United States. The population was 6,447 at the 2010 census. Avon is the gateway to the Beaver Creek Resort which lies about two miles (3 km) south of the town. It was the previous site of Vail Resorts before the company moved its physical headquarters to Broomfield, CO. in 2006. The town is also the home of Liberty Skis, an independent ski manufacturing company. The town first consisted of a rail station opened in 1889.

Eagle County Charter Academy is a K-8 charter school located in Wolcott, Colorado. It opened in the 1994 school year with grades 5-7, adding 8th grade the next year, 1-4 by 2001 and Kindergarten in 2004. It has been recognized as a John Irwin School of Excellence. In 2004-2008 it received a grade of 'Excellent' from the state, based upon the performance of its students in the Colorado Student Assessment Program. There are 16-18 children in each class, creating grades of 32-36 kids.

Battle Mountain High School (Colorado)
Battle Mountain High School is a secondary school in Eagle County, Colorado. It was originally built in 1975 in the town of Eagle-Vail, prior to that, it was a combined middle school/high school near Battle Mountain pass. In 2010 was relocated to a new campus farther west in the town of Edwards. It continues to serve as Eagle County's primary high school today. The new facility was designed by H+L Architecture of Denver, Colorado.
