Provadiya River

The Provadiya River (Провадийска река, Provadiyska reka, taking its name from the town of Provadiya) is a river in northeastern Bulgaria. It is 119 km long and has a drainage basin of 2,132 km². The river takes its source from close to the village of Dobri Voynikovo in Shumen Province, flowing southeast and then making a sharp turn northeast to empty into Lake Devnya at Devnya. It is part of the Black Sea drainage area, as Lake Devnya is connected to Lake Varna and it to the Black Sea.

Hitrino

Hitrino is a village in northeastern Bulgaria, part of Shumen Province. It is the administrative centre of the homonymous Hitrino Municipality, which lies in the northwestern part of Shumen Province. Hitrino is located in the northeastern Ludogorie, equally outlying from the Black Sea and the Danube, 20 kilometres from the provincial capital of Shumen. The village is a railway station on the Varna-Rousse line and lies on the main road between Silistra and Shumen.

Tombul Mosque

The Sherif Halil Pasha Mosque,, more commonly known as the Tombul (or Tumbul) Mosque, located in Shumen, is the largest mosque in Bulgaria and among the largest on the Balkans.

Astronomical Center of Shumen University

The Astronomical Center was established as a structure of Shumen University in 1999. Its main activities are: realisation of the education of students in astronomy and popularisation of astronomy. In 1999 the astronomical dome for the 15 cm telescope was built. The new equipment provided an opportunity to observe the total solar eclipse during the same year.

Panayot Volov Stadium

Panayot Volov Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Shumen, Bulgaria. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of PFC Volov. The stadium holds 18,000 spectators or 24,390 people.
