The village was selected as the Village of Tavastia in 2003. The written history of Kiipu begins in the 14th century. The first map of the village was drawn in 1710.

Jänhijoki railway bridge
Jänhijoki railway bridge is a railway bridge located in the village of Minkiö railway station in Jokioinen municipality, in the Tavastia Proper region of Finland. The bridge crosses the Jänhijoki river approximately 0.5 kilometres south of Minkiö railway station on the narrow gauge Jokioinen Museum Railway. The bridge is the oldest railway bridge in Finland still in railway use.
