Maxmo
Maxmo is a former municipality of Finland. It was located in the province of Western Finland and was part of the Ostrobothnia region. The municipality was consolidated with Vörå to form the new municipality of Vörå-Maxmo in 2007. The former municipality had a population of 1,037 (2003) and covered an area of 148.06 km² of which one fourth was land. The population density was 7.0 inhabitants per km². The majority were speakers of Swedish (90%) and the minority speakers of Finnish (8%).

Battle of Oravais
The Battle of Oravais is sometimes regarded as the turning point of the Finnish War: the last chance for Sweden to turn the war to her advantage. It was the bloodiest battle of the conflict, which some historians attribute to the exhaustion, resignation and desperation of the Swedish army: it was losing the war.

Battle of Storkyro
The Battle of Storkyro was fought on February 19, 1714 / March 2, 1714 near the village of Napo in Storkyro parish, Ostrobothnia, Swedish Empire between a Swedish and a Russian army, as part of the Great Northern War. The Swedish force, consisting almost entirely of Finnish troops, was destroyed by the numerically superior Russian force. As a result, all of Finland сame under Russian military occupation for the rest of the war, a period of hardship known in Finland as the Greater Wrath.
