Popina Island

Popina Island is a Romanian island in the northern part of the Razelm Lake (Razim). The island spans 98 hectares and it is a protected reserve, hosting an important nesting area for shelducks. Razelm Lake is the largest permanent water expanse in the Danube Delta, separated from the Black Sea by two long grinds and it flows into Goloviţa Lake, a fish farm now.

Bystroye Canal

The Bystroye Canal (also known in English as Bystroe Canal, in Ukrainian as Канал Дунай — Чорне море meaning Danube – Black Sea Canal, and in Romanian as Canalul Bâstroe) is a canal in the Danube Delta. It was among the main Ukrainian waterways until 1959, when its exploitation stopped due to natural silting. After the Prorva Canal became silted in 1997, Ukraine was left without its own deep-water canal between the Danube and the Black Sea.

Maican Island

Sulina branch

The Sulina branch is a distributary of the river Danube, that contributes in forming the Danube Delta. The other two main branches of the Danube are the Chilia branch and the Saint George.
