Padang Besar, Thailand

Padang Besar is a border town of the Malaysia-Thailand border in the Sadao district, Songkhla province, Thailand. Since 2004 the municipality has had town status and covers parts of the subdistrict Padang Besar. In 2007 it had a population of 13,748. There is a road and rail border crossing into Malaysia in Padang Besar. The road checkpoint is located about 1 km outside town on the road to Sadao. The town on the Malaysian side is also known as Padang Besar.

Padang Besar, Malaysia

Padang Besar (locals often call it "Padang" and it is often abbreviated as P.B. It can be translated as "big field" in Bahasa Melayu) is a border town located in the northern part of Perlis state in Malaysia. It is situated on the border with Songkhla province, Thailand, 35 kilometers northeast of Kangar and about 57 km southwest of Hat Yai. The town opposite Padang Besar in Thailand is also known as Padang Besar, although locals here usually refer to the town as "Pekan Siam" or Siamese town.

Padang Besar railway station

The Padang Besar railway station is a Malaysian train station located at and named after the town of Padang Besar, Perlis. It is the northern-most station of the west coast line, connecting to the State Railway of Thailand's rail network.
