Sazlıdere Dam

Sazlıdere Dam is a reservoir dam in the Küçükçekmece district of Istanbul Province, Turkey to provide drinking water to the European side suburbs of the city. The Turkish State Hydraulic Works backed the development of the dam, which was constructed between 1992 and 1996. The reservoir supplies annually 50 hm3 drinking water.

Şamlar

Şamlar is a village in Başakşehir district of İstanbul Province, Turkey. It is situated in the European portion of Turkey, so called Rumeli at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:41|07|N|28|44|E||| | |name= }} to the east of the Sazlıdere Dam reservoir. It is about 15 kilometres northwest of Başakşehir. The population of Şamlar is 3448 as of 2010. The oldest building in the village is a mosque dated 1839.

Istanbul Province

Istanbul Province is a province located in north-west Turkey. It has an area of 5,343.02 km² and a population of 13,255,685. The population was 10,018,735 in 2000. It is surrounded by the provinces of Tekirdağ to the west, Kocaeli to the east, the Black Sea to the northern part and the Sea of Marmara to the south. The Bosphorus (Boğaziçi) Strait divides the province in two parts: the European side and the Asian side.

Atatürk Olympic Stadium

Atatürk Olympic Stadium (Turkish: Atatürk Olimpiyat Stadı) located in İkitelli, a district in the western outskirts of Istanbul, is the largest-capacity stadium of Turkey. The stadium is named after Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder and first President of the Republic of Turkey. Its construction began in 1999 and was completed in 2002. It was built for Turkey's failed bid for the 2008 Olympic Games that were ultimately awarded to Beijing. It cost about 140 million USD.
